Overview
Tab Views let you split search results into separate labelled tabs, such as Products, Articles, and Pages. Customers can switch between tabs to find exactly what they are looking for without running separate searches. This feature is especially useful for stores that index both product and content pages.
Navigate to: UI Customization > Tab Views
How Tab Views Work
Each tab represents a filtered view of the search results. When a customer types a query, ExpertRec shows results across all configured tabs. The default tab displays first; other tabs show a count of matching results so the customer knows content exists there.
Creating a Tab
- Navigate to UI Customization > Tab Views.
- Click Add Tab.
- Enter a display label for the tab, for example: “Products”, “Blog”, or “FAQ”.
- Set the filter condition that defines which results appear in the tab. This is typically a field filter, such as
type = productortype = article. - Optionally set this tab as the default tab.
- Click Save.
Tab Settings
- Tab label: The text shown on the tab button. Keep labels short and descriptive.
- Filter condition: The field and value used to filter results for this tab. Supports any indexed field.
- Default tab: The tab shown first when results load. Only one tab can be the default.
- Show count: Display the number of results in parentheses next to each tab label.
- Tab order: Drag tabs to reorder them. The order here determines the left-to-right display order.
Common Tab Configurations
- Products + Articles: Separate product results from blog content for stores with an active content strategy.
- Products + Pages: Surface static pages such as About, FAQ, and Contact alongside product results.
- In Stock + All Products: Show only in-stock items in the default tab with a second tab for all products.
Best Practices
- Only create tabs when you have meaningful volume in each category. An empty tab creates a poor experience.
- Set the tab with the most results as the default.
- Keep the total number of tabs to 4 or fewer to avoid a cluttered tab bar.
