Leverage GA4 Data (Google Analytics 4 Integration)
Overview
Connecting your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) account to ExpertRec unlocks revenue-based reporting and GA4-powered insights directly in your ExpertRec dashboard. Once connected, you gain access to revenue trend reports, trending products and categories, best-selling products and categories, and the Users vs Revenue chart, all powered by your actual GA4 transaction data.
Configure this integration in your ExpertRec control panel under Advanced > Leverage GA4 Data (route: /ecom/analytics/google/authorize-analytics).
What Connecting GA4 Unlocks
- Revenue Trends (Users vs Revenue): See how search usage correlates with overall store revenue over time.
- Trending Products: Products gaining search-driven clicks and purchases over recent periods.
- Trending Categories: Product categories gaining traction with your shoppers.
- Best Selling Products: Top products by GA4-attributed revenue from search sessions.
- Best Selling Categories: Top categories by GA4-attributed revenue from search sessions.
These reports appear under Reporting > Revenue Trends and Reporting > Product Performance after the GA4 connection is established.
How to Connect Your GA4 Account
- Log in to your ExpertRec control panel.
- Navigate to Advanced > Leverage GA4 Data.
- Click Authorize with Google.
- Sign in with the Google account that has access to your GA4 property.
- Grant ExpertRec read access to your Google Analytics data.
- Select the correct GA4 property from the dropdown list.
- Click Save. ExpertRec will begin pulling GA4 data within a few hours.
Account Requirements
- You must use a Google account that has at least Viewer access to the GA4 property.
- The GA4 property must be collecting ecommerce events (purchase events with revenue values) for the revenue reports to populate.
- If your ExpertRec account email differs from your GA4 account email, you can add your GA4 account email as an additional user under Manage Users before connecting.
Disconnecting GA4
To remove the GA4 connection, navigate to Advanced > Leverage GA4 Data and click Disconnect. Revenue-based reports will stop updating and will show a message indicating that GA4 is not connected. Historical data already pulled will remain visible until it is cleared.
Troubleshooting
- No data after connecting: GA4 data can take up to 24 hours to appear. Check that ecommerce events are firing correctly in your GA4 property using the GA4 DebugView.
- Wrong property selected: Disconnect and reconnect, then choose the correct property from the dropdown.
- Authorization error: Ensure the Google account used has at least Viewer access to the GA4 property, not just the Google account login itself.
