Product Bundles (Shopify)

What are Product Bundles?

The Product Bundles feature lets you define sets of complementary products that ExpertRec will recommend together on your Shopify storefront. These are products that are frequently bought together, are part of a kit, or are natural add-ons to one another. When a shopper views or searches for one item in a bundle, ExpertRec surfaces the related items as a “complete the set” recommendation.

This feature is part of the Recommendations group in the Shopify sidebar and is available exclusively on Shopify plans.

Where to Find This Setting

In your ExpertRec control panel, expand the Recommendations section in the left sidebar and click Product Bundles. The route is /ecom/product-bundles. This menu item only appears when your account is connected to a Shopify store.

How to Create a Bundle

1. Navigate to Recommendations > Product Bundles.
2. Click Create Bundle.
3. Search for and select the primary product (the anchor item shoppers land on).
4. Add one or more companion products that should be recommended alongside it.
5. Set an optional bundle label (for example, “Frequently Bought Together” or “Complete the Look”) that appears in the widget heading.
6. Save. The bundle takes effect immediately on your live storefront.

Bundle Display Options

• Inline widget: Shown directly on the product page below the main product details.
• Cart recommendations: Surfaces bundle companions at the cart or checkout step.
• Search results overlay: Highlights bundle items when the primary product appears in search results.

Automatic Bundle Suggestions

If you have behavioral data in your ExpertRec account (clicks, add-to-cart events, purchases), the dashboard also provides AI-suggested bundles based on co-purchase patterns. Review these suggestions on the Product Bundles page and approve them with a single click.

Notes

• This feature is Shopify only. For non-Shopify stores, use the general Recommendations Widget article.
• A product can appear as a companion in multiple bundles but can only have one primary bundle definition at a time.
• Bundles respect inventory status: out-of-stock companion products are automatically hidden from the widget without requiring manual updates.
