What are Collection Pages?

In Shopify, a collection is the equivalent of a category page on other platforms. It is a grouped listing of products organized by a shared attribute, theme, or merchandising rule. ExpertRec’s Collection Pages feature replaces Shopify’s default collection display with a fast, filterable, and relevance-ranked product grid powered by ExpertRec’s search engine.

If you are on a non-Shopify platform, this same capability is documented in the Category Pages article. On Shopify, the feature uses Shopify’s own terminology and is accessed through the Collection Pages menu item.

Where to Find This Setting

In your ExpertRec control panel, click Collection Pages in the left sidebar. The route is /ecom/install-settings/category-search. This menu item is visible in the Shopify sidebar.

How to Enable Collection Pages

1. Navigate to Collection Pages from the sidebar.
2. Toggle Enable on Collection Pages to on.
3. Choose the installation method: automatic theme injection (recommended for most Shopify themes) or manual snippet placement for headless or custom themes.
4. Save. ExpertRec will intercept collection page requests and render its own filterable product grid in place of the default Shopify collection layout.

• Merchandising rules: All boost rules, pin slots, and promotional banners configured in the Merchandising section apply to collection pages too.
• Consistent UI: The same search result card design used on the search results page is reused on collection pages, giving shoppers a uniform experience.

Shopify vs. Non-Shopify Terminology

• On Shopify: the feature is called Collection Pages and is found at /ecom/install-settings/category-search.
• On other platforms (WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Custom Stack): the same feature is called Category Pages and is documented in the Category Pages article.

Notes

• Headless Shopify setups require manual snippet placement and a small JavaScript configuration to pass the collection handle to the ExpertRec widget.
• Collection page analytics (impressions, clicks, conversions) are tracked separately from search analytics and visible under Analytics > Product Performance.
