Obtaining an API key
The API key is a unique identifier that is connected to your Expertrec account. To obtain the API key please follow these steps.
Make sure the WP Fastest Site Search plugin is installed on your WP Backend.
Once the plugin is installed, Activate the plugin and Navigate to the Site Search plugin dashboard.
Depending on eCommerce or the Content Search solution, there are two different signup screens.
Woocommerce Search
In the plugin dashboard, after a fresh install, the signup page is displayed.
- Choose to Create New Account option.
- Enter the website URL under the Site URL input field.
- Click Continue to initiate the signup process.
The next step is to log in to your Gmail account when prompted. Note: The first signup is only authenticated through Google. Once the signup is complete any additional email can be added to the account.
Content Search
In the case of a content search, Expertrec uses a crawler in order to create a Search index. After activating the plugin, navigate to the Site Search plugin dashboard.
- Choose to Create New Account option.
- Enter the website URL under the Site URL input field.
- Select the preferred Indexing option between Real Time Data Sync and Periodic Data Sync.
- Click Continue to initiate the signup process.
The next step is to log in to your Gmail account when prompted. Note: The first signup is only authenticated through Google. Once the signup is complete any additional email can be added to the account.
Finding the API key
From the plugin dashboard
After activating the plugin, navigate to the Site Search plugin and click on the API section of the plugin dashboard. You will find the API key and the Secret key.
From the advanced dashboard
To get to the advanced dashboard, navigate to the Advanced section of the plugin and click on Take me there under any of the advanced features.
In the advanced dashboard, please navigate to the Search API > API info section. Here Merchant ID is the API key.
